Vienna...8th July

A quiet day; reading, some writing; even some thinking.....

In the afternoon, back in shorts and a t-shirt. I walked to the Prater. The Praterturm ride was luring me back in. But first I decided to ride on the Ferris Wheel; much more sedate. A number of cars have a single dining table with candles... I quite like the idea of this.. only each course would have to coincide with a rotation.

..and the average age is.....
Unlike the London Eye, there is no constant speed. When people are getting in and out, the wheel stops, so for a while the car swings in the wind.. Once you have got used to this then all is well.
The view was great though...

In the middle of the picture are the gold domes of the Orthodox Cathedral...

A small part of the amusement park below...

Yes, that black stump again.....
However, looking across from the Ferris wheel to the Praterturm I realised this wasn't for me; especially on my own.. I have difficulty standing half way up a ladder than swinging around 115 metres up with only a small seat and chains to hold onto... maybe another time....

Walking back, close to the Prater, I noticed this plaque on the Hotel Wien to Max Steiner... the giant of film music in the golden era of Hollywood...

Tomorrow.. tea in a traditional Viennese cafe..
