Vienna...5th July.

Walking away from the Danube through a residential area, I arrive in front of the new Messe Wien Trade fair hall with blank glazed walls.
Moving on quickly,  I walked down the short side of a hall to the..... WU, the Wirtschaftuniversitat Vien.. The Vienna University of Economics and Business.

From its inception in 1898, this is the second site it has re-located to due to the increase in student numbers.  The campus, known as Campus WU, was completed in 2010.

WU have the following statement about the campus:

..'Internationalism, innovation, diversity - the new campus WU is the concrete realization of WU's vision for a modern university. The fundamental principles of the new architecture reflect the values and ideas we cherish at WU..'

You can spot the architectural tourists because we are all looking up at the buildings and taking the odd photograph while confident young students walk by...

There is a good website with information on each building...

https://www.wu.ac.at/en/the-university/campus/architecture-buildings

The campus has been photographed many times; great photos...

But these are mine.....

The Library and Learning Centre, the LLC, designed by Zaha Hadid....

Yesterday, there was an event in the building and the building guards lined up in front of the entrance politely told me to move on...
There are architectural tours of the buildings so I may try to join one of these during my stay.
I assume that a significant proportion of the campus budget went on this, but there are other really interesting buildings together with less successful ones.....

This is building TC/D1.. the teaching centre and department building designed by Vienna based architects BUSarchitektur ZT GmbH..

This is D3/AD... the administration and department building designed by Peter Cook and CRABstudio based in London..

Less successful buildings.... (in my opinion..)

Building D4..... by Barcelona's Estudio Carme Pinós S. L

The Executive Academy Building by Spanish architects NO.MAD Arquitectos, Madrid.

... and the Auditorium and Seminar building by Holzer Kobler Architekturen Berlin GmbH and Freimüller Söllinger Architektur ZT GmbH

The main campus is linear with a broad central pedestrian avenue linking all the buildings with cafes in strategic locations... good to people watch.... I may go back for the tour and to take better photos......
